interior design PROCESS
We seek to make the interior design process transparent and hassle-free, handling all the details and involving you as much or as little as you’d like, so you can focus on what’s most important to you. Our firm's approach centers on personalized service and clear communication, so that we know exactly what you want, and you get the space your heart desires—on time and on budget.
Here’s what you can expect working with us:
We start with an initial phone call to get to know you and your project (scope, budget, timing, etc.) If the project is a good fit, we'll schedule an on-site consultation to learn about your lifestyle, how you want to feel in your space, your values, and your wish list. During this consultation, we freely give you ideas and sources for your project, as well as provide clarity and direction on next steps.
2/ PROPOSAL FOR DESIGN
Based on what we learn in discovery, we create a design proposal that covers the scope of work, fees, timeframe, and some working principles. This first flat fee proposal covers all steps up to final design. Proposals are working documents that can be modified, and our goal is to create an arrangement that is comfortable, realistic, and successful. If flat fees aren’t your preference, we’re happy to provide an hourly contract.
3/ CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
After you approve the interior design proposal, we start work on the schematic and conceptual designs for your project. If you have ideas and style inputs, we gladly incorporate those. If not, we're more than happy to supply the inspiration.
At the end of this phase, we share floor plans and concept boards to show you the possibilities, and shape the direction of the project. Your candid feedback here helps us create something that is exactly what you were looking for—even if you didn’t know it.
4/ DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Upon deciding the direction of the floor plan and concept, the iteration begins towards the final design details for construction, and the final selections of fixtures, furnishings, accessories, and art. We get pricing for all work and items, and create a comprehensive budget.
5/ DESIGN PRESENTATION
When all pieces of the design have come together, we present the entire space to you. We can discuss any questions or tradeoffs. We get your approval on all selections so there are no surprises down the line - you'll know exactly what your space will look like at the end of this phase.
6/ PROPOSAL FOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT
After design is complete, we create a flat fee proposal for the project management and execution phase of the project. Project management includes all purchasing, receiving, delivery, and installation, as well as oversight over contractors. We handle any unforeseen issues that may come up and the headache that comes with that. If flat fees aren’t your preference, we’re happy to provide an hourly contract.
7/ PROJECT MANAGEMENT
After the project management proposal is accepted, we work closely with our vendors and contractors for the purchasing, logistics, and construction work. We're on-site to ensure quality and adherence to the vision.
8/ INSTALLATION + STYLING
The most exciting step of your project is with the completion of construction and/or the installation of furniture, fixtures, accessories, and art. Styling, where we make final adjustments and artful touches, ensures that the interior design vision for your space is fully realized.
9/ PROJECT CLOSURE
We do a final walkthrough of the project where we note anything that isn't quite right. Any deficiencies will be resolved in a timely manner. We send you the final invoices and project documentation for your payment and records. Lastly, high-quality photos of your new, amazing space are taken to show the before-and-after.
After you project is completed, we're still here for you! If there’s anything that’s not quite right, we’ll get it sorted. We want to hear about your experiences, questions, or concerns. Your testimonial and referrals for interior design are also greatly appreciated.
